World Water Week 2017
World Water Week is the annual focal point for the globe’s water issues. Avison provided essential interpreting services for this annual event, which this year addressed the theme “water and waste: reduce and reuse”.
WWW is organised by SIWI (Stockholm International Water Institute). Thousands of individuals and hundreds of key organisations converged on Stockholm from 27 August to 1 September 2017, to network, innovate, soundboard, and develop solutions to the world’s most critical water-related challenges.
Various organisations chose to work with Avison to help ensure that all participants, delegates panelists and presenters were able to understand and be understood at the various events.
The WWF (World Wildlife Fund) hosted an event entitled “Water, Sustainable business and China’s Belt and Road Initiative,” and we had a Chinese interpreter on hand to provide Mandarin Chinese/Swedish/English interpreting for this session, which was broadcast live and recorded for broadcast on public channels.
Charlotta Järnmark, Programme Manager for Water Stewardship at WWF Sweden says “We were very happy with the professional service from the interpreter from Avison for WWW 2017. The interpreter made a discreet impression on a very challenging performance; translating Chinese textile business dialogue, two ways, in live, video-taped interview format. I recommend Avison’s services to others.”. To see our interpreter in action in this interesting discussion, click here.
UN Water needed interpreting help with the Spanish language for a member in a panel discussion. We provided simultaneous interpreting between English and Spanish for this session.
